Accessibility Statement - what is it?.

It's All About the Standards.

By validating our site to the most stringent of Web standards, our audience is guaranteed the best possible browsing experience, regardless of the type of device used. This site is just as accessible on a PDA, cell phone or a screen reader for the blind, as it is on the latest version of Internet Explorer or Mozilla. We have also reduced the overall load time of our pages. The site is also more visable to search engines and therefore more likely to be ranked higher.

Access Keys

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key.

  • Access key c -Skip to Content
  • Access key 1 -Press releases
  • Access key 2 - Documents
  • Access key 3 - About me
  • Access key 4 - Contact me
  • Access key 5 - Links
  • Access key 0 - Accessiblity Statement

Standards compliance

  1. All pages on this site are Bobby AAA approved, complying with the Bobby guidelines. This is not an exact science and is very much dependant on how the guidelines are interpreted. Some accessibility features can be measured, but many can not. Following a review of the guidelines we believe that all these pages are in compliance.
  2. All pages on this site are WCAG AAA approved, complying wih all priority 1, 2, and 3 guidelines of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Again, this is a judgement call; many guidelines are intentionally vague and can not be tested automatically. Following a review of the guidelines we believe that all these pages are in compliance.
  3. All pages on this site use structured semantic markup. H2 tags are used for main titles, H3 tags for subtitles. For example, on this page, JAWS users can skip past the navigation straight to the content on each page by pressing (alt + h)..

Navigation aids

  1. The site is small enough to be navigated with out the use of any aids.

Links

  1. Many links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail, which should appear as a tool tip when your mouse hovers over it.

Images

  1. Many images include inline captions to explain the significance of each image to non-visual readers.

Visual Design

  1. This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout.
  2. This site uses only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers.
  3. If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.
  4. You the user can use a series of tools along the top of the screen to increase/decrease the text size or to print the page use your browser print button. A print Stylesheet has been used that will print only the inportant textual information, saving you a fortune in colour ink. If you require images please use the contact me page to request them.
  5. When a page is printed all navigation and branding is removed from the page, only main content is left.
