Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-

“Richard Haass’ outburst in Washington was wholly irresponsible, being excusatory of future terrorism.

“Excusing terrorism, alas, is nothing new for Dr Haass. His New Year report was so sanitising of terrorism that it didn’t even use the term “terrorism” at any point to describe the murderous terror of the IRA and others. Continue Reading…

Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:

“The reports  signed off by the Standards and Privileges Committee whitewashing Kelly’s grossly offensive conduct at the Castlederg IRA parade is a slap in the face for all innocent victims of terror. Continue Reading…

Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:

“It’s simply not good enough to say that no more of these letters will be issued. There should never have been any of these letters issued in the first place and those in circulation should, as the First Minister claimed was a resigning issue, be rescinded.

“If the letters are no longer of any force, as the DUP laughably claim, the Downey judgement would be appealed.

“The demands made by Peter Robinson should have been met in full. They haven’t been and innocent victims are, once again, the losers.”

Statement by Jim Allister MLA:

“TUV regrets that the DUP has rolled over to Sinn Fein pressure in OFMdFM and is now delivering on a promise they foolishly made in 2007 in their first Programme for Government with Sinn Fein. Continue Reading…

Every year since the Madrid bombings in 2004 the European Union has dedicated one day in March as a Memorial Day to the victims of terrorist attacks. Prior to the election of Jim Allister to the Assembly this event had never been marked at Stormont. However, the TUV leader rectified this situation and has hosted two highly successful events attended by victims of Republican and Loyalist terrorism from across Northern Ireland.

Mr Allister is again hosting an event in the Senate Chamber in Parliament Buildings at 10.30am for 11am on Monday 10th March 2013. Continue Reading…

Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:

“I had a long standing appointment to meet the Secretary of State today. Indeed her office phoned on Monday to confirm that it was still going ahead and ask what we wanted put on the agenda. Continue Reading…

Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-

“The secret negotiations with the Provos, which gifted their OTRs the comfort of effective immunity, undermined and blunted the HET’s work. While victims craved justice their government was conspiring with the victim-makers to ensure it wouldn’t be obtained. That is the obscenity of the OTR deal. Continue Reading…

Below is Jim Allister’s speech during today’s Assembly debate:

“The affirmation that justice in a democracy must be done and must be seen to be done is not only a catchphrase but a fundamental principle that underlies the operation of a judicial system. The sordid arrangement that the Government perfected with the spokesmen and representatives of murderers, terrorists and some of the vilest criminals goes to the very heart of undermining our judicial and justice system. It subverts not only the political process but the judicial process, and those who perfected it were the British Government and the IRA through its surrogates, Sinn Féin. Of course, it is made worse by the fact that it was kept secret. It was something that was done in secret, behind closed doors and to be kept secret, and it has done great despite not only to the justice system but to the citizens who rely on that justice system, particularly the innocent victims who plaintively believed that, one day, they might get justice while not knowing that some of the victim makers were walking around free of that threat and obligation. Statement by TUV Leader Jim Allister:-

“If Peter Robinson accepts what the Prime Minister has offered, then, he will have buckled within 24 hours of playing the hard man.

“Having attacked the evolution, secrecy and operation of the OTR scheme and demanded to know who they were and who knew, what the First Minister demanded was “a full judicial inquiry into all of these matters.” What he has got is a mere judge-led review to “determine whether any other letters were sent in error”. There will be no public inquiry, no taking of evidence in public, no witnesses called, rather an administrative review of the paperwork, dressed up for the gullible as something more. As for rescinding of the letters, which Arlene Foster stressed was a resigning issue, it isn’t even mentioned! Continue Reading…
